2025 : CREAHMBXL (Michaël Mvukani Mpiolani, Jérôme Van Roye, and Gaëlle Leroy) + Jérôme meynen
At the invitation of the In.Out.Sider Festival, artists from Creahmbxl Michaël Mvukani Mpiolani, Jérôme Van Roye, and Gaëlle Leroy embarked on the Urban Boat cultural barge for a three-day residency along the waterways, from Lille to Brussels. The trio collaborated with artist Jérôme Meynen to design a mural that was painted on the quay, serving as the culmination of their research.
The artists navigated for three days. Jérôme Van Roye drew androgynous, enchanting mermaids. Michaël Mvukani Mpiolani reimagined the ship's machinery. Between the two, artist Jérôme Meynen created a series of colorful shapes evoking the seabed. After numerous trials, this solution was found to connect these very different worlds into a cohesive composition, which was then reproduced on the port side of the barge.
The result was then presented to the public during the festival’s opening night of In.Out.Sider on September 11, 2025.
