2025 : BRAINROT COWBOY, SCHRÜNZEL, THOMAS MAHMOUD
The second residency of 2025, which took place from September 21 to 25, consisted of a cross-cultural musical meeting between Belgian and German artists. After the Lille date, where Brainrot Cowboy, Schrunzel, and Thomas Mahmoud had presented their respective projects, they embarked on the barge for a five-day collaborative residency.
The results of this residency were presented in Paris during an evening at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, as part of In.Out.Sider’s presence at the (((Interférence_s))) festival.
Schrunzel is a self-taught, multidisciplinary, autistic artist who blends music, poetry, and visual arts in a singular and critical universe. A member of the Berlin label Ick Mach Welle, he develops a radical and experimental DIY aesthetic there.
Thomas Mahmoud is a Berlin-based artist, author, musician, and curator whose path is rooted in punk and alternative scenes. Since 2019, he has been actively involved in inclusive projects like Ick Mach Welle, supporting artists with disabilities.
Brainrot Cowboy is an experimental post-punk duo based in Brussels, exploring strange sounds, dizzying noises, and disjointed rhythms. Brainrot Cowboy creates sonic pieces that leave room for improvisation, in a disorder that is both meta and intimate.
The residency also welcomed journalists with disabilities from the Belgian media outlet Les Contistadors, who produced audio and video capsules as well as interviews with the musicians on board.
